Cookie policy

1. What we use

Wishlistar uses strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies to run the signed-in app. With your consent we also use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-KZXV6G7YM5) to understand how the public site is used. We do not use advertising cookies or Google Ads.

2. Necessary cookies

• wishlist_session — HTTP-only session cookie set after you sign in, so the website and installed (PWA) app stay signed in. It is necessary for authentication. It is marked Secure on HTTPS production deployments.

Necessary cookies do not require consent. The app cannot stay signed in without them.

3. Optional analytics (Google Analytics)

If you choose Accept analytics, Google LLC sets analytics cookies such as _ga and _ga_KZXV6G7YM5 (typically up to 13 months) and may collect page views, approximate location, device/browser type, referral information, and product events (for example sign-up, list creation, and gift reservations). Ads storage, ad user data, and ad personalisation stay denied (Google Consent Mode v2). IP addresses are not used for Google Signals or ads personalisation. Google’s own processing is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

The Google tag script is present on every page so measurement can start after consent, but it runs under Google Consent Mode v2 with analytics storage denied by default. Analytics cookies are not set until you accept. If you choose Necessary only, or later withdraw consent, analytics storage stays denied and we delete existing _ga cookies where the browser allows it.

4. Local browser storage

We also use local browser storage (not cookies) so the app can work reliably, for example:

• Remembering which account is active in this browser
• Caching wishlist/group data for the interface
• Remembering your analytics choice (wishlist.analyticsConsent)
• Remembering a pending group invite while you sign up or verify email

5. Your choices

You can accept optional analytics or keep necessary cookies only. You can change that choice at any time with Cookie settings (also in the site footer). Clearing site data in your browser will sign you out and reset this choice. See also our Privacy policy.
